NEC extend unbeaten run to 15 games after narrow win against Mbarara City

NEC stretched their unbeaten run to 15 games in the League after overcoming Mbarara City 1-0 on Friday at MTN-Omondi Stadium.

In a closely contested game, the hosts took all three points, courtesy of goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo’s penalty goal.

Like he did against URA two weeks ago, the captain was able to slot home from 12 yard. However this time he had to score from the rebound because Mbarara City goalkeeper Stuart Hussein Kafuluma had saved the initial attempt.

Before the goal, Innocent Media was unlucky not to give NEC the lead when his strike in the 11th minute glanced off the goal post.

NEC have now gone eight successive games without conceeding a goal and today’s victory leaves them fifth on the table with 44 points.

Mbarara City on the other hand remain 14th on 17 points, just two above the relegation zone.
