Jaylen Brown Whines, Says Refs Should Be Investigated After 76ers Send Boston To Cancun
Jaylen Brown demands an investigation into NBA referees after claiming they had an organized agenda against the Celtics during their playoff loss to Philly.
Jaylen Brown went live on Twitch Sunday night with a message for the NBA that’s impossible to ignore.
The Celtics star revealed what he believes cost Boston their season, pointing directly at the officials who worked the final three games against Philadelphia.
The 76ers completed an improbable 3-1 series comeback Saturday, winning Game 7 by nine points at TD Garden with a 109-100 final.
Brown put up 33 points, nine rebounds, and four assists in the loss, but his postgame focus wasn’t on his own performance.
Instead, he zeroed in on Joel Embiid’s 34-point, 12-rebound night and what he saw as preferential treatment from the referees.
“They clearly had an agenda,” Brown said on stream. “Maybe because I spoke so critically of them during the regular season.”
What made his comments even more pointed was his claim that he’d actually spoken directly to referees.
“I actually spoke to some refs and they told me there’s an agenda going on each game. Every time Jaylen puts his hands up just call it,” he explained.
Brown then escalated his position by naming specific officials.
“If I had to say, there’s some referees that need to be investigated,” he stated.
Brown’s comments come at a particularly loaded moment for the league, given the ongoing fallout from the 2024 betting scandal, which saw players like Jontay Porter banned for life, and the allegations against Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Chauncey Billups in 2025.
Brown was previously fined $35,000 in January for his regular-season criticism of referees, but his latest comments suggest he’s willing to face further consequences to make his point.
The NBA hasn’t responded to Brown’s specific allegations about the three officials or his claims of an organized agenda against him.
