*Jeannie Mai recently shared in a new vlog that she is actively exploring plastic surgery options – a step she described as necessary for where she is in life right now.
Mai, 47, said the decision stems from noticing visible changes in her appearance that don’t match how she feels internally. “I can’t believe I’m actually at this place where I’m considering plastic surgery,” she said, Complex reports. “And honestly, it’s crazy ’cause I don’t feel old. I just do notice some things that come with age make me want to be honest about what are the options out there.”
The media personality traveled to Korea, where she booked two surgery consultations. She was candid about the emotional complexity behind the decision, acknowledging that aging in the public eye adds a layer that most people never have to face. She is also navigating single motherhood, raising her 4-year-old daughter Monaco Jenkins, whom she shares with ex-husband, rapper Jeezy.
“I’m 47 and I don’t think anybody prepares you for the moment that your face starts changing before you actually feel old inside,” she continued.
Her reasoning has nothing to do with chasing youth. “It’s more of wanting to look as alive on the outside as I still feel on the inside,” Mai explained. She also pushed back on the idea that self-acceptance and cosmetic changes are mutually exclusive.
“Can you love yourself deeply and still want to tweak something? I think the answer is yes,” she said.
