Jelly Roll Went To North Carolina Hospital Just Before Bunnie XO Divorce News Broke After Battling Sinus Infection on Tour
The singer shared that doctors gave him steroids last week to help him recover and thanked Big Ass Stadium Tour 2 mate Post Malone for sending a "big flower bouquet."
In the midst of headlines about his divorce from podcaster/author Bunnie Xo, Jelly Roll has shared an update about a health issue that sent him to the hospital last week. The singer posted a TikTok video last Thursday that included a scene in which Jelly received a giant bouquet of get well soon flowers from his Big Ass Stadium Tour 2 road mate Post Malone.
“Awwww, God d–n I love him, dude. I f–kin’ love you Austin,” a grateful Jelly said in the clip. “So I went to the hospital last night in Charlotte, North Carolina,” the singer said, shouting out Novant Health for helping him treat a sinus infection he’s been battling on the road. “Shout out to the hospital. They literally got me on my feet for the show. I was puffy-faced,” he noted, saying the doctor’s gave him some steroids to help fight the infection.
“The sinus infection’s bad. Now I’m all jacked up on Mountain Dew, they gave me a bunch of steroids and now I’m like, ‘Hi! Hi! Hi!,” he added energetically, holding up the card from Posty that came with the flowers, which read, “Get well soon, MOFO! Love ya, PM.”
He also lamented that the illness had forced him to miss a part of the June 9 gig at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, cutting his stage time short because of illness and, for the first time on their now two-years-running joint stadium tour, forcing him to miss singing a duet on Post’s F-1 Trillion track “Losers” with Malone during the show. He said he was “barely” able to get through his set that night and thanked Malone again for the flowers and understanding.
“I love you Post,” he said. “When I say on stage every night that Post Malone is the nicest human in the world, y’all I’m not making that up.” In May, Malone pushed back the start of the Big Ass tour for three weeks in order to work on his upcoming album, with the revised outing opening on June 9 in Charlotte, where Jelly said he took ill.
The health report came just days before news broke that Jelly and his wife, Bunnie XO, were divorcing after nearly a decade of marriage. The 41-year-old “Save Me” singer filed for the dissolution of his marriage on May 18 in Williamson County, Tenn. citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason, with the separation date listed as May 9. The couple will continue coparenting the country star’s two children — 18-year-old daughter Bailee and nine-year old son Noah, both from his previous relationships. (Bunnie and Jelly have primary custody of Bailee.)
