Kid Cudi Boots M.I.A. From His Tour After Her Political Rants: ‘I Won’t Have Someone on My Tour Making Offensive Remarks’

Kid Cudi has removed M.I.A. as an opener from his Rebel Ragers Tour due to her repeated political rants while on stage.

Cudder made the move official with an announcement to his Instagram Story on Monday (May 4) following a pair of shows in Austin and Dallas over the weekend.
“TOUR UPDATE: M.I.A is no longer on this tour. I told my management to send a notice to her team before we started tour that I didn’t want anything offensive at my shows, cuz I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood,” he wrote. After the last couple shows, I’ve been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants.”
Cudi continued: “This, to me, is very disappointing and I wont have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase. Thank you for understanding. – Rager”
Billboard has reached out to Kid Cudi and M.I.A.’s reps for comment.
The “Paper Planes” artist was booed during a rant at the Dallas stop over the weekend, which saw her touching on immigration and her political party allegiance.
“I’ve been canceled for many reasons. I never thought I would be canceled for being a brown Republican voter,” she said, per Variety.
Another viral TikTok video showed her on stage claiming she’s “illegal” and half of her team was no longer with her because they could not obtain a U.S. visa. “Alright, I’m illegal. Half my team are not here because they didn’t get the visa,” she claimed. “OK, I want you to know that. Don’t listen to what the bots say on the internet.”
“Is she serious right now?” a fan can be heard firing back in the audience.
The Rebel Ragers Tour kicked off on April 28 in Phoenix and was slated for 33 shows across North America through the end of June. M.I.A. was tapped as an opener on the trek alongside Big Boi, A-Trak, me n ü and Dot Da Genius.
Kid Cudi also revealed on Monday in a post to his IG Story that the Tuesday (May 5) show, slated for Birmingham, Ala., has been canceled due to low ticket sales.
“I wanted to go to alabama becuz its one of the many places in the US where I haven’t ever performed,” Cudi wrote. “I wanted to give yall a special experience, but the ticket sales just weren’t strong enough. I hope yall understand.
He added: “So far tour has been fantastic, u guys showed up and showed out and the rest of tour will go on as scheduled!! Weve been packing these venues out to the lawn and its been ELECTRIC. This has been so far my best selling tour to date, and I plan on giving u powerful performances til the end of June. Love yall!”
The Rebel Ragers Tour will continue with a date in Atlanta on May 6 and then head to Tampa Bay, Fla., on May 8.
