*As anticipation builds for “Michael,” the upcoming film about Michael Jackson, a notable change has emerged involving Kat Graham. The actor confirmed that her performance as Diana Ross will not appear in the movie due to behind-the-scenes complications.
“Ahead of the April 24 release of the Michael Jackson film, I want to share that certain legal considerations affected a few scenes, including the ones I filmed with an incredible cast,” Graham shared on X. She further explained, “Unfortunately, those moments are no longer part of the final cut, though the team worked hard to preserve as much of the story as possible.” Graham did not disclose the legal reasons.
The absence of these scenes has prompted reactions from fans eager to see the bond between Ross and Jackson on screen. As EW reports, Jermaine Jackson has previously linked Ross to the inspiration behind the song “Remember the Time.”

The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, explores different stages of Jackson’s life, from his beginnings as a young performer to his global fame. It combines large-scale musical moments with a closer look at his personal experiences.
Jaafar Jackson takes on the lead role, marking his first major appearance on screen. Fuqua praised his work, saying, “It’s incredibly exciting to watch Jaafar bring Michael to life. There was such a spiritual connection when I first met Jaafar, who has a natural ability to emulate Michael and such a great chemistry with the camera.”
Additional cast members include Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo. Produced by Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain, the film will be released April 24 domestically by Lionsgate, with Universal Pictures overseeing its rollout internationally.
