He earlier set in motion bribes like $1,776 payments to military personnel, $50,000 sign-up bonuses to ICE agents, and $2,000 payments to the middle class and poor. He has also just announced a deal to put a 10% interest cap on credit card debt for the months right before the election. In America, unscrupulous candidates in the wild west used to steal elections by providing drunkards with free booze on election day, until laws were passed. In 21st Century America, billionaire politicians are just buying up every sacred right the people used to possess, including a free press (newspaper monopolies), free speech (billion-dollar defamation suits), elections, immigration rights, even religious freedom (evangelical Christian nationalism). And there seems to be little will to stop it all. Donald J. Trump believes the American people are either so stupid that they do not get what he is doing or so corrupt that they do not care.
