NUP retains Joel Ssenyonyi as Leader of Opposition

Opposition leading party, National Unity Platform (NUP) has retained Nakawa West MP Joel Ssenyonyi as the Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LoP).

NUP also retained Jinja South Division East MP Paul Mwiru as chief opposition whip, while Kayunga district woman representative Harriet Nakwede was maintained as deputy chief opposition whip.

NUP also retained Manjiya County MP John Baptist Nambeshe as commissioner of Parliament, while Kassanda County North MP Patrick Nsamba Oshabe was named chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Jinja City woman representative Sarah Lwansasula was appointed vice chairperson of PAC.

Kyadondo East MP Nkunyingi Muwadda was named chairperson of the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE), deputised by Kira Municipality MP George Musisi.

Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake Butebi retained his position as chairperson of the Government Assurances Committee, with Soroti District Woman representative Anna Adeke Ebaju serving as vice chairperson.

Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke was appointed chairperson of the Local Government Accounts Committee, deputised by Iganga Municipality MP Abed Nasser Mudobole.

Busujju County MP David Kalwanga Lukyamuzi was named representative to the Pan-African Parliament, while Kyotera district woman representative Fortunate Rose Nantongo was appointed representative to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

Katikamu South MP Hassan Kirumira was appointed representative to the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, while Luwero district woman representative Brenda Nabukenya was named representative to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Lubaga North MP Kawalya Abubakar was appointed to the Parliamentary Pension Scheme, while Masaka district woman representative Joan Namutaawe was named representative to the Caribbean-EU Parliamentary Assembly.

The appointments were announced by NUP secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya.
