I Was Invited… and I Said Yes: A Night of Nostalgia at the Floetry Concert in Atlanta

Last night, Atlanta’s newest venue on the south side — Southlake Arena in the Morrow area — set the tone for a soulful, grown-and-sexy evening as Floetry’s “Say Yes” tour made its highly anticipated stop in the city. Presented by the Black Promoters Collective, the night was a true celebration of timeless R&B, live music, and intentional vibes.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear this wasn’t just another concert — it was an experience curated for a mature audience. Couples, friend groups, and true lovers of R&B filled the arena, dressed for the occasion and ready to enjoy a night rooted in nostalgia.
The show featured standout performances from Raheem DeVaughn and Teedra Moses, who both brought their signature energy to the stage. Raheem DeVaughn created a memorable, intimate moment as he stepped into the crowd, handing out roses while performing — turning the arena into a live love letter. Teedra Moses delivered smooth vocals and undeniable presence, reminding the audience why her music continues to stand the test of time.

I’ll be honest — I waited in line for drinks as the concert was flooded with fans and concert lovers, which caused me to miss part of the performance. Then I was reminded I had complimentary food and drinks in our private suite, courtesy of the Black Promoters Collective — and from that point on, it was nothing but vibes.
When Floetry hit the stage, the energy shifted into something deeper. They took the audience on a journey — blending poetry, soul, and sound in a way only they can. By the time they performed “Say Yes,” the crowd was fully engaged, singing every word and reliving a moment that felt both classic and current.

Southlake Arena proved to be a strong addition to Atlanta’s entertainment scene, offering a polished environment with suites, food, and drinks that elevate the overall concert experience. Despite the crowd-filled lines, the atmosphere remained vibrant, reflecting just how much the city showed up.
More than anything, the night highlighted a shift in Atlanta’s event culture — creating spaces where grown audiences can enjoy live music in a way that feels elevated, comfortable, and intentional.
Special shoutout again to the Black Promoters Collective for curating an unforgettable night in the city.
