The road map to the long awaited historic AFCON PAMOJA 2027 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda (East Africa) continues as the preparations and build-up garner steam with promising momentum.
The three different countries in the CECAFA zone are in a serious race against time to meet the set deadlines by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) ahead of next year’s June – July football fiesta.
From the demanding infrastructure, marketing, communication and signage, security and safety, protocol and workforce to the respective local organizing committees for the three countries in the box, there is surely work in progress.
CAF maintains the stringent monitoring, evaluation and supervisory role with a number of on-site visits and numerous meetings.
The latest meeting has been held at the lavish Mestil Hotel in Kampala city, Uganda (22nd to 23rd April 2026) with the Acting CAF Secretary General Samson Adamu in attendance.
Others who attended were the ministers of sports for the three countries, Federation presidents, CEO’s, members of the local organizing committee from the respective host countries.
The two-day workshop in Kampala was meet to streamline on how best to utilize the remaining limited time to organize a tranquil championship, one that Adamu tagged historic.

The two day working visit in Kampala, Uganda was to dig down on the preparations from AFCON PAMOJA 2027 host countries; Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. It was to set priorities with timeliness and perfect executions with the remaining months” Adamu remarked.
Adamu extended appreciation to the Government of Uganda, ministers of sports from the three East African countries, the federation heads and members of the respective local organizing committee.

CAF is expect to conduct an infrastructural visit in July 2026, as the deadline to the December 31st is fast looming.
The continent governing body has also advised on constituting a joint organizing committee from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda that will oversee strategic elements as the transit visas, infrastructure, movement, security, among others.
Then there will be a steering committee at secondary level composed of CEO’s from the different countries and other technical persons.
The third tier is that of the national LOC to align everything and different sub-committees as well the secretariat.

“We have the right level of commitment. We have agreed upon the timelines to be attained. We focus on delivering within the timelines set. We shall be following works every month with engineers visiting the three different countries. There is no room for failure.” Adamu added.
CAF’s strong delegation for the kick off meeting also had officials as Leila Mariam Ouedraogo, Stephanie Totokra, George Nyaanga, Ismail Wally, Richard Torsu, Christian Emeruwa and Uganda’s Leilah Nankya, among others.

AFCON 2027 will kick off on 19th June 2027 and climax by the 18th July 2027.
Uganda has confirmed Mandela National Stadium, Namboole and Hoima International stadium as the two main venues that will be used.
