Reports from Soccer Beat suggest DStv Diski Challenge midfielder Pheko Phago is reportedly targeted by Sekhukhune United.

SEKHUKHUNE UNITED TO SNATCH PHEKO PHAGO FROM KAIZER CHIEFS?

“According to sources close to Babina Noko, the club has already made midfielder Phago aware of their intention to bring him on board,” Kick Off reported, as per Soccer Beat.

“Kaizer Chiefs are interested in renewing Phago’s contract in the DDC [DStv Diski Challenge] team, whilst Sekhukhune want to give the boy a first-team contract.

“Chiefs have already approached the youngster with intention to renew his contract, but the boy wants to play in the PSL next season,” the outlet added.

In the meantime, Sekhukhune are yet to find a new head coach after parting ways with Eric Tinker last week.

WHO IS PHEKO PHAGO?

Hailing from Krugersdorp, North West, the 21-year-old star first caught attention when he was named Kaizer Chiefs’ U19 Player of the Season in 2022.

He late stood out in his first DDC season in 2025 with four Man of the Match awards in a 6-game period.

He later inspired the young Amakhosi to their maiden DDC championship in 2024/25. Fondly known as “Spanish Guitar,” Phago’s game is characterised by highly mature decision-making, composure, discipline and the uniqueness of playing as a left-footed number six.
