Sammie Opens Up About His Journey During Intimate iHeartRadio Q&A at iHeartRadio 96.1 The Beat

There are certain moments that hit differently when you’ve grown up listening to an artist. For many of us, Sammie is more than just a singer we heard on the radio. His music has been part of our lives for years. So being in the room for an intimate Q&A with Sammie at iHeartRadio 96.1 The Beat was a special moment—one that felt both nostalgic and incredibly personal.

Moderated by the always-engaging JoJo Alonzo, the conversation gave attendees an opportunity to hear Sammie speak openly about his life, his growth, his struggles, his faith and the journey that ultimately led him to his upcoming album.

JoJo immediately set the tone by reminding the room that we literally grew up with Sammie. The young fans who once listened to his music are grown now and Sammie has grown right along with us. But this time, we weren’t simply listening to Sammie the artist. We were getting to know Sammie the man.

During the conversation, Sammie opened up about some of the struggles he has experienced throughout his life and career. He was vulnerable about the things he has faced and the process of becoming the person he is today.

One of the biggest takeaways was his faith.

Sammie described prayer, therapy and the studio as important parts of how he has navigated life and worked through his experiences.

That vulnerability appears to be at the center of his upcoming project.

Sammie explained that the album will allow listeners to discover the parts of his story that may have remained unexplored. In many ways, the music becomes the place where he is finally turning over every leaf and allowing fans to understand his journey on a deeper level.

Attendees were also given an exclusive preview of the album. While the project is not yet available to the public, one thing was clear: Sammie did not disappoint.

Among the memorable moments was a glimpse of a song titled “Splash,” which Sammie revealed was inspired by his lady. Her reaction to the record added another personal layer to an already intimate evening.

Sammie daughter also joined him on stage, creating one of the sweetest moments of the event.

Troy shared the story behind his relationship with Sammie, including how they met and how he eventually became a spiritual father figure to Sammie with the blessing of Sammie’s late father.

Sammie also acknowledged the people who have helped him along the way, including his management team, family and inner circle of supporters. Their role in his continued growth and ability to reach this point was clearly something he did not take for granted.

For me, the experience was especially meaningful.

I’ve been a Sammie fan since I was a kid. I even have a personal story about that journey that I may share one day but that’s a story for another time.

Being able to see Sammie live, hear him speak about his life firsthand and preview music that represents such a personal chapter was truly an honor.

And now, the wait is almost over.

November 6, 2026 is not only the release date for Sammie’s highly anticipated project it is also his daughter’s birthday. So when the album arrives, don’t just press play.
