The Senegalese Ministry of National Education has launched a national Digital Library, a strategic initiative designed to ensure educational continuity following recent disruptions to the school calendar. This new digital ecosystem, developed in collaboration with teachers and validated by education experts, aims to strengthen learning outcomes and provide comprehensive support for students preparing for national exams across the country.
The unified platform is accessible free of charge via mobile phones, tablets, and computers, catering to students from preschool through secondary school. The system is structured around two primary portals: SENKALA, an interactive platform offering exercises, revision modules, and interdisciplinary resources; and PROMET, a distance learning platform featuring video courses and interactive exercises that can be accessed offline after being downloaded.
Recognizing the digital divide, the Ministry is adopting an inclusive approach that accounts for varying levels of internet access. In collaboration with regional academic authorities, additional measures are being deployed to adapt these digital tools to local realities. Minister Moustapha Mamba Guirassy has called for a “collective mobilization,” encouraging teachers to integrate these tools into their daily pedagogy and urging parents to support their children in navigating these new resources.
This initiative reaffirms the government’s commitment to ensuring that every student has the necessary resources to catch up on lost instructional time and approach their year-end exams—such as the CM2, BFEM, and Baccalaureate—with confidence. A comprehensive user guide has been released to help students and educators navigate the various links and resources based on their specific grade level and subject requirements.
