Following a post-mortem examination, police have confirmed the homicide of Jean Marie Tobolo Joseph, of La Tielle, Micoud on January 17, charging his son with murder.
Officers attached to the Micoud Police Station responded to reports of a shooting at about 11:30 a.m. on January 17, 2026. Upon arrival at a residence in La Tielle, police discovered the lifeless body of Jean Marie Joseph.
The post-mortem examination, conducted on January 20, determined that Joseph died from neuromuscular shock resulting from a traumatic brain injury.
On January 21, the victim’s son Henaniah Joseph was formally charged with murder. He was taken before the Second District Court in Vieux Fort and remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility pending trial.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.
