The Southern Youth Forum (SYF) has endorsed Sunmola Adijat Olashile for the Ogun State House of Assembly, Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency II, while also conferring on her the prestigious Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity.
The endorsement and award presentation were made during a visit by an SYF delegation led by its National President, Ambassador Olajide Olakunle A., who commended Sunmola Adijat for her commitment to service, philanthropy, and advocacy for inclusive leadership.
Olajide described Sunmola as a strong and courageous leader, noting that her passion for advancing the cause of women and youth in leadership makes her deserving of the recognition.
Speaking at the event, he referred to her as “a man” in reference to her resilience and strength in advocating inclusive leadership at a time when women continue to push for greater representation in governance.
He noted that the large number of women present from across the 8 wards under Ado-Odo/Ota Constituency II at the International Women’s Day celebration organized by Sunmola reflects the growing demand for equality and inclusion in leadership spaces. According to him, the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity is reserved for individuals with proven track records of humanitarian service, philanthropy, and impactful leadership.
“This award is meant to recognize outstanding leaders who have demonstrated leadership dexterity, humanitarian commitment, and dedication to service delivery to humanity.”Sunmola Adijat represents a beacon of hope for Nigerian youths,” he said.
Olajide further emphasized that the Southern Youth Forum remains committed to promoting exemplary leadership across Africa through its initiatives, including the Nelson Mandela Lecture Series and leadership recognition programmes.
In her response, Sunmola Adijat Olashile expressed deep appreciation to the Southern Youth Forum for the recognition and endorsement. She thanked the organization for its efforts in promoting exemplary leadership across Africa.
She reaffirmed her commitment to continue advocating for women’s empowerment, youth inclusion, and impactful leadership that will positively transform communities, added the International Women’s Day celebration will become an annual programme, pledging that if elected to the Ogun State House of Assembly, she will ensure the initiative continues every year to further promote women’s empowerment and inclusive leadership in Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency II.
