The 2026 Tanna Memorial Golf Championship successfully climaxed at the picturesque 9-hole Tororo Golf Club, overlooking the magnificent trademark Tororo Rock volcanic plug.

Golfers from across the divide in the different clusters competed in the four day event held in memory of the slain business mogul Gokaldas Tanna whose impact in Tororo Municipality remains visible thus far.

Juma Abiti and Peace Kabasweka won the main elite gross categories for the men and ladies respectively.

Marvin Kibirige was the professional winner.

Abiti won with a margin of four strokes carding 215 gross in 54 holes.

Yassin Boyi was runners up with 219 gross ahead of the duo of Amos Bwambale and Lawrence Walakira who tied on 220 gross apiece.

Titus Okwong (225), Godfrey Kambale (226), Joseph Kasozi (226), Patrick Okoth (226), Charles Mulyanga (229) and Mackinon Masereka (230) completed the top ten.

In the ladies category, Kabasweka was +21 with a total of 237 gross in 54 holes to win the cluster.

Joyce Kisembo came second with 241 as Meron Kyomugisha and Martha Babirye completed the respective top four positions with 244 and 246 gross marks.

Professionals:

Kibirige scored 143 in 36 holes to win the paid ranks category; scoring 73 and 70 in both rounds.

Herman Deco Mutebi (144) was second as Herman Mutawe came third.

The other professionals who made the cut for the Ug.Shs 10,000,000 cash kitty were Canary Kabise (146), Vincent Byamukama (149), James Koto (149), Ibrahim Bagalana (150), Emma Ogwang (151), Peter Ssendaula (152), Fred Wanzala (153) and Silver Opio (153).

Tadeo Rodell Gaita (155), Irene Nakalembe (158), Ronald Bukenya (160) and Ibrahim Ssemkula (166).

The event rode along the theme; “Honour the past, play the present”.
