Toosii Exits LSU Football Program To Resume Recording
Toosii has ditched his LSU football gig to get back to making music full-time according to his former coach.
Toosii walked away from his LSU football opportunity just months after joining Lane Kiffin’s roster, choosing to refocus on his music career instead.
The rapper, who’d been working as a wide receiver for the Tigers since March, made the decision to leave the program and return to recording and performing full-time.
His departure marks the end of a brief but notable chapter in college football, where Hip-Hop and athletics collided in an unconventional way.
Kiffin revealed the news on his podcast appearance with Tyrann Mathieu, explaining that Toosii faced real constraints trying to balance two demanding careers simultaneously.
“He signed with, like, one of the, I don’t know what they’re called, the gambling company things where you do the commercials for them and stuff,” Kiffin said, noting that these endorsement deals created financial and scheduling conflicts with his football commitments.
The coach emphasized that the limitations weren’t just about time but about what Toosii could actually earn and pursue while maintaining his athlete status.
What makes this situation different from typical transfer portal moves is that Toosii genuinely attempted the dual-career path.
Kiffin stressed this point during his podcast conversation, saying “It wasn’t a stunt at all. He really wanted to see if he could do it.”
The rapper, who boasts 350 million streams on his 2023 hit “Favorite Song,” had previously committed to Syracuse before switching to LSU. Coming from Rolesville, North Carolina, Toosii brought legitimate athletic credentials alongside his platinum-level music status.
Kiffin’s willingness to give Toosii a genuine shot at football, rather than treating it as a publicity stunt, speaks to the coach’s openness to unconventional roster decisions.
The rapper’s departure doesn’t diminish what he attempted, and his music career remains on an upward trajectory with major label backing and consistent streaming growth.
Toosii’s next move will likely involve studio sessions and tour dates rather than practice fields and game days.
