Baltimore – Springbok captain Siya Kolisi dedicated South Africa’s 43-28 victory over the All Blacks in Baltimore to the people of the country, injured players and supporters who have backed the team throughout the tour.

The victory at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday secured the Springboks a 3-1 series win and the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry trophy.

Kolisi credited coach Rassie Erasmus for keeping the squad grounded and reminding players of the people and communities they represent.

“We have got coach Rassie. He knows how to get the best out of us. When he speaks to us he reminds us of where we come from,” Kolisi said.

He said the team also played for those who could not be part of the tour, as well as South Africans facing daily hardships.

“The players that are not in the group today, the guys that are injured, the guys that couldn’t make the tour, we do this for them,” he said.

“Also the people of South Africa, who would love to have the opportunity we have … each and every day the struggles and everything they go through, so we do it for the people.”

Kolisi also thanked the thousands of South African supporters who travelled to Baltimore and those watching from home.

“I want to thank every single South African here in the stadium and back home. It was a special week and great to see you guys come out in your numbers to support us,” he said.

“To the New Zealand fans, thank you for coming to our beautiful country South Africa. Thank you for embracing our culture and our people.”

The triumph completed a remarkable turnaround after the Springboks lost the opening Test at Ellis Park before winning the next three matches in Cape Town, Soweto and Baltimore.
