Wet and unstable weather continues across Belize

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP):

It is another unsettled day across Belize, with showers making the rounds from the south to inland and back again, and a small craft caution in effect for those heading out on the water.

The National Meteorological Service reports that relatively moist and unstable conditions continue over the area. Skies will be cloudy at times, with a few showers, periods of light rain, or thunderstorms concentrated mostly over the southern districts this morning, moving inland during the afternoon, and then settling over the south once more tonight. Elsewhere, showers will stay isolated.

Boaters should pay special attention today. A small craft caution has been issued, warning of gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Operators of small crafts are advised to exercise caution.

It will remain warm despite the clouds. Inland areas will see the highest temperatures, reaching 92 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius) before dipping to 73 (23 Celsius). Along the coast, highs will hit 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) with a low of 81 (27 Celsius), while the hills stay cooler, topping out at 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius) and falling to 68 (20 Celsius).

Out on the water, easterly winds will blow at 10 to 20 knots, with moderate seas and waves of 4 to 6 feet.

There is good news on the tropical side, with no tropical cyclone formation expected anywhere in the region over the next 48 hours.

The outlook for Friday and Friday night calls for partly cloudy skies with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly over central and southern areas, before showers increase over most areas Friday night.

As for the tides, today’s low tides fall at 12:06 PM and 10:58 PM, with a high at 6:23 PM and another high at 5:15 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:24 AM and sets this evening at 6:31 PM. This forecast was prepared by forecaster Derrick Rudon.
