FORMER Miss South Africa and Miss Universe 2019, Zozibini Tunzi, has touched down in Zimbabwe ahead of the Miss Universe Zimbabwe grand finale that is taking place on Saturday, June 6.
Upon her arrival at the airport, the beauty queen and actress, who will be co-hosting the prestigious beauty pageant, spoke to the media, sharing that she is very excited since this is her first time visiting the country.
“I am incredibly excited, and this is my first time in Zimbabwe,” she said.
She added that she is happy to be a part of an occasion that celebrates young women and empowers them to create a positive impact within society.
“So to be able to come in such a beautiful way to support women. I’m a great supporter of women, especially women who are on a mission to change the world, to change lives and to change our beautiful continent,” Tunzi said.
The “Top Billing” presenter further highlighted that it would be amazing if our continent would produce another Miss Universe this year, since the last time Africa won the prestigious title was when she was crowned back in 2019.
“We haven’t had a Miss Universe from Africa in a little while now, since I was the last one. I think it’s time,” she said.
She added that it would be a milestone if Zimbabwe wins the Miss Universe title this time around.
“It would be such a beautiful thing to have one from Zimbabwe because that would be the first one ever,” Tunzi said.
Tunzi made the entire continent proud when she won the Miss Universe title in 2019, becoming the third South African woman to win the title and earning global recognition for promoting natural beauty.
She inspired so many young women to be proud of their natural beauty and show it off unapologetically.
She made an impact that remains even today as we continue to see so many young women chase crowns wearing their natural hair proudly.
Tunzi also shared encouraging words for the women chasing the Miss Universe Zimbabwe crown.
“I would honestly tell them to remain true to who they are. To remember their purpose because it is such a huge part of this journey, since it is such a challenging journey.
“And you need that one thing that constantly reminds you of why you are doing this,” she said.
Tunzi added that it is important for the contestants to remember why they are doing this and who they are doing it for.
