BDF soldier ordered out of marital home after domestic dispute; granted $2,000 bail

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize Defence Force soldier has been ordered to stay away from the Newtown Barracks home he shared with his wife after being charged with harm and damage to property following an alleged domestic dispute.

Justin Lincoln Flowers, 32, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where he was arraigned on one count of harm and one count of damage to property stemming from an incident on Saturday, September 5.

Flowers initially pleaded guilty to the charges but changed his pleas to not guilty after the allegations were outlined in court.

According to the complaint, Flowers’ wife, a 35-year-old general manager of a local hotel, alleged that the dispute began after another woman approached her and claimed she had recently been intimate with Flowers.

The hotel manager told police that during the confrontation Flowers allegedly damaged her Samsung A23 cellphone, punched her in the nose, grabbed her by the throat and damaged several personal items. She further alleged that he threatened to kill her and repeatedly referenced his training and position as a BDF soldier.

Among the items allegedly damaged were a cellphone valued at $600, an Asus laptop valued at $4,500, a Black & Decker iron, a Fossil watch, clothing, a purse and other belongings.

Flowers was granted bail in the sum of $2,000 with strict conditions. He is prohibited from contacting the woman or any prosecution witnesses, directly or indirectly, and must relocate from the Newtown Barracks residence.

The Senior Magistrate also warned Flowers that he is not to return to the home alone. He may only collect his belongings while accompanied by police, and any breach of the condition could result in his bail being revoked.

Flowers indicated that he would stay with his grandmother in the meantime.

A BDF representative was also present during the court proceedings.

Flowers is scheduled to return to court on November 4, 2026.
