Beaumont Primary Honours the General Workers Who Restored Their School

When devastating floods hit Beaumont Primary School, their dedicated general workers rolled up their sleeves to restore damaged grounds and buildings, inspiring the entire school community to give them the ultimate standing ovation they deserved.

Cape Town, South Africa (19 May 2026) – Last week’s heavy rains brought severe flooding and widespread damage to several parts of the country. Yet, amid the tragedy, moments of solidarity and compassion shone through.

A beautiful example unfolded at Beaumont Primary School, where the school’s general workers immediately rolled up their sleeves to restore order. They poured an immense amount of care and hard work into clearing the grounds and repairing the buildings, working tirelessly behind the scenes to get everything in proper condition for the young learners.

This inspiring display of dedication quickly rippled through the broader school community, with parents going out of their way to spoil the incredible workers with treats, blankets, care packs and heartfelt support as they worked through the clean-up process.

“Your kindness and appreciation meant so much,” Beaumont Primary School said, thanking the parents.

“To our general workers, thank you for your dedication, resilience, and willingness to go above and beyond for our school community.”

A video posted on Facebook also captured a special assembly that honoured the general workers, giving them their moment on stage to receive a well-deserved round of applause from the entire school in appreciation for all their hard work.

Social media users were moved by the vote of thanks, commending Beaumont for celebrating its honest heroes and inspiring its youngsters to appreciate every role player who ensures the school runs like a well-oiled machine.

“What a wonderful gesture! Thank you, Beaumont,” one person commented.

“The best team ever! Well done and thank you for everything you did to ensure that our children can safely return to school today,” another wrote.

To Maria, Nicole, Portia, Nicole, Asanda, Cuzette, Desmonique, Zama, Sandile, Virgill, Charlton, Clarence, Reuben, Joseph and Ludwe under the guidance of Mr Massey Hicks and Mr Melville, well done for showing up and helping your school weather this storm!
