Saint Lucia has lost another illustrious son of the soil. Earlier today, St. Lucia Times learnt of the transition of Noel Samuel Cadasse, who passed away peacefully at his home in Canada. He was 80.
Born in the village of Anse La Raye, Cadasse rose to prominence from being the local agent for several regional insurance companies to establishing his own successful company, First National Insurance Company. He also became involved in the local bakery business as well as tourism, establishing one of the few locally run and owned hotels at the time Caribees Hotel at La Panse.

Cadasse also served on several boards in Saint Lucia, was a former senator and chairman of the Gaming Control Commission in Saint Lucia.
He later migrated to Canada with his family where he continued to sow his seeds of success as a businessman. Nearing his retirement from public life he published his memoirs in the book “Ebb and Flow – the life Journey of Noel Cadasse”.
As part of the King’s Birthday Honors in 2025 Cadasse was awarded the Office of the Order of the British Empire (O.B.E) for services to community, infrastructure and development.
He is survived by his wife, Julia, and children.
