Haliki Choua Mahamat has inaugurated a 34-member committee tasked with modernizing the country’s legal framework governing digital technologies, electronic communications, and postal services. The move marks a significant step in Chad’s efforts to align its regulatory environment with rapid technological advancements.
The committee has been mandated to review and update existing legislation to ensure it reflects current digital realities and supports the sector as a driver of national development. According to the minister, the current legal framework has become outdated due to the fast pace of innovation, necessitating urgent reform.
Members of the committee have been given a strict 45-day deadline to deliver practical, modern, and enforceable legal texts. Their work will build on previous efforts, including contributions from ARCEP, with a focus on harmonizing and strengthening existing regulations.
