WARRIORS coach Marian Marinica says he wants to engage Marshall Munetsi for a meeting as part of a plan to have the player back in the national team.
Munetsi’s absence from Warriors assignments since Marinica’s appointment has been a topical issue in football circles.
The feud between the two started in December last year when the Romanian gaffer did not include Munetsi in his 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad, citing that the player was injured.
However, tension rose as Munetsi went all out in the media to clear the air on his injury, claiming he was fit and ready to represent the country at AFCON.
Following the AFCON debacle, Marinica also snubbed Munetsi in his Four Nations squad hence pressure has mounted from fans.
Munetsi is currently the best performing Zimbabwean player based in Europe.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder has made an instant impact at French Ligue 1 side Paris FC, where he has scored three goals since joining the team on loan from English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.
Responding to the media about the Munetsi drama, Marinica said, “In the spirit of clarity and unity, we have requested a meeting with Marshall Munetsi so that we can sit down and speak openly.
“We want to get to the bottom of any misunderstandings that may be there.
“These matters are always best handled through direct, respectful, and honest communication.”
Munetsi is one of the most experienced players at the disposal of the coach, having played in several foreign clubs, including South African giants Orlando Pirates, French Ligue 1 side Stade Reims, and EPL side Wolves.
The Mabvuku-born and bred player has represented Zimbabwe at three different AFCON finals, that is in 2017, 2019, and 2021.
