By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City construction worker accused of stealing a woman’s bicycle is out on bail after appearing in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a theft charge.
Twenty-one-year-old Jordan August, of a Curassow Street address in Belize City, appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court #6 on Monday, where he was read a single charge of theft.
Allegations are that on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in Belize City, August dishonestly appropriated one purple and blue striped 24-inch beach cruiser bicycle, valued at $300, which belongs to a woman.
August pleaded not guilty to the charge. Although the prosecution objected strongly to bail, Senior Magistrate Dennison granted him bail in the sum of $2,000, plus one surety of the same amount.
As part of his bail conditions, August is not to contact the complainant or any prosecution witnesses. He must also stay 100 feet away from the complainant and must not be arrested and charged with any similar offense while out on bail.
Before he could post bail, August was required to make a payment toward an outstanding fine of $55.
He is due back in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court in August 2026.
