ON June 26, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from Squamish RCMP, conducting patrols, initiated a traffic stop for roadside screening.
As a result of their investigation, Kyle Luca, 30, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operation while over 80 km/h, and two counts of breach of a release order. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 9 in relation to these charges.
“Impaired driving remains one of the top factors in fatal crashes,” said Staff-Sgt. Kris Clark of the BC RCMP. “Frontline officers in Squamish and across BC will continue to target high-risk driving behaviours to keep our roads safe.”
Police say impaired driving is an emergency. If you suspect another driver is impaired, or witness high-risk driving behaviours, report them by calling 9-1-1 from your hands-free device.
