Sport teaches discipline, perseverance and teamwork, but it also teaches us how to respond when things don’t go our way. Those same qualities help us succeed in school, in our careers, in our families and in our communities. Success is rarely built in a single moment. It grows through consistent effort, quiet determination and the willingness to keep moving forward.
One quote in this issue stayed with me. Olympian Justina Di Stasio reminds us to “show up, try your best, stay consistent, and eventually something good will happen.” Those simple words capture the spirit of this entire magazine.
You’ll also find stories that remind us wellness takes many forms. Healing can happen through reconnecting with culture, spending time on the land, sharing music, learning from Elders or inspiring the next generation. As one article explains, healing happens through relationships, with our communities, with our history and with the land.
At SAY Magazine, we believe Indigenous excellence deserves to be celebrated in all its forms. Whether it’s on the mat, on the stage, in the classroom or out on the land, these stories remind us that our greatest achievements are often measured not by medals or awards, but by the lives we touch along the way.
Thank you for reading, for supporting Indigenous voices and for being part of the SAY Magazine community. We hope these stories inspire you to keep showing up, keep learning and keep moving forward.
Happy reading!
