Cornerstone Resource & Community Center is launching a free eight-week Summer Enrichment Camp for children ages 5 to 12. The program runs Monday through Friday, June 1 through August 1, and is designed to support children academically, emotionally and socially while also making sure they have access to consistent, healthy meals.

Built around the theme “Feed the Tummy, Feed the Mind,” the camp focuses on addressing both childhood hunger and youth development. The goal is to give children a safe, structured environment where they can learn, build confidence and stay connected during the months when school is out and resources are limited.

“At a time when many children lose access to meals, mentorship and enrichment, we want to help bridge the gap,” said Adrienne Myles, CEO and Founder of Cornerstone. “Our children deserve more than supervision during the summer — they deserve opportunities, exposure and support.”

According to Myles, the camp goes beyond traditional childcare. Students will take part in activities that build communication skills, emotional intelligence and leadership. They’ll also be introduced to creative outlets and early career-building experiences.

Program offerings range from conflict management and negotiation skills to etiquette and confidence-building classes. Students will also receive mentorship through the Iron Men program, along with piano lessons, sewing and creative design, computer and technology training, coding and STEM activities, arts and crafts, leadership development, academic enrichment, team-building exercises, social-emotional learning and daily healthy meals and snacks.

The initiative reflects the organization’s mission to meet immediate needs while investing in long-term growth for youth and families.

“This work is about feeding children physically and also nurturing them mentally, emotionally and spiritually,” Myles said. “When you feed a child’s mind with knowledge, confidence and purpose — while meeting their basic needs — you create lasting change.”

The camp also serves as a proactive response to challenges facing young people today. Staff will teach conflict resolution, communication and emotional regulation in ways that are age-appropriate and engaging.

Cornerstone Resource & Community Center’s free Summer Enrichment Camp, for children ages 5–12, will run June 1–August 1, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Resource & Community Center, 7234 N Lindbergh Blvd. Hazelwood, MO. 63042
