By Zoila Palma: Former CARICOM Youth Ambassador and Belizean media personality Tarun Frances Butcher has married Ray Richmond of Chicago, Illinois, in a picturesque beachfront ceremony at the Dreams Natura Resort & Spa in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
The destination wedding brought together family and friends from Belize, the United States, and beyond to celebrate the couple’s union.
A native of Santa Elena, Cayo, Tarun is the daughter of cancer survivor and advocate Shalue Butcher O’Brien and Steven O’Brien, and the granddaughter of Bill Butcher, a respected community activist, Special Constable, and entrepreneur.
The couple’s journey to the altar began with a romantic engagement at the ancient Maya site of Cahal Pech in San Ignacio, adding a distinctly Belizean touch to their love story.
Tarun, a former news anchor at Love FM and former CARICOM Youth Ambassador for Belize, was surrounded by loved ones as she exchanged vows in an elegant ceremony overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Her parents expressed their joy, saying they were deeply grateful for the overwhelming love and support shown by relatives and friends who traveled from near and far to witness the celebration.
One of the evening’s standout moments was a lively mother-daughter dance that paid tribute to Tarun’s Belizean and Caribbean heritage.
The performance featured a medley of her favorite music, transitioning from Punta legend Super G’s hit “Don’t Call My Phone” to the soca classic “Old and Gray” delighting guests.
The wedding beautifully blended the cultures of Belize and Chicago, marking the beginning of the couple’s new life together as husband and wife.
Breaking Belize News joins family and friends in congratulating the newlyweds and wishing them a lifetime of love, joy, and happiness together.
