Accountant Rauha Severus started off her content creation by simply pressing record without a script.
Severus (27) says she did this despite a culture where many wait for a ‘big break’ or a fancy degree to validate their dreams.
“I simply pressed record,” she says.
Severus launched Unscripted Moments with Rauha in March 2025, a show she describes as raw, high-energy and often hilarious, giving people the space to finally let their guard down.
The content creator says the journey from accounting to media wasn’t a straight line.
She says she felt pressure to choose a ‘practical’ career path after matric.
“I actually wanted to study media but I ended up in accounting,” she says, but her love for presenting never went away.
She was inspired by shows like ‘Whatagwan’ and ‘Frenzy Special’ on the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, where she eventually realised that waiting for permission was a losing game.
Severus adds that she decided to bypass the traditional gatekeepers and build her own stage. She used her phone and a microphone, and filmed her first episode at the MTC Runners Connect.
“The name ‘Unscripted’ gives me freedom. I don’t feel boxed in. I want real, honest conversations that feel natural,” Severus says.
She adds that the one-woman production isn’t always glamorous as she handles everything from scouting the venue, managing the lighting, interviewing the guests and editing the final cut.
The experience taught her that production isn’t about perfection; it’s about adaptability.
“I’m naturally a positive person,” she says.
As the show evolves, Severus is looking towards the untapped potential of the Namibian podcasting scene. She sees a hunger for long-form content where people can go deeper than a 30-second clip allows.
“No one is going to give you permission,” she insists. “You don’t become confident by waiting. You become confident by doing,” she says.
