*Mobile-first streaming platform Mansa is making a major move in the short-form content space, announcing a slate of 10 original micro-drama series set to roll out between May and July 2026.

The platform, co-founded by actor-producers David Oyelowo and Nate Parker alongside actor Chiké Okonkwo and film financier Zak Tanjeloff, is doubling down on its mission to deliver culturally specific stories to mobile audiences at scale.

According to Blex Media, the first three titles arrive in May. “Playing the Field” centers on a woman navigating romance amid the competitive world of flag football, while “Love Contract” explores the emotional terrain of a high-pressure arranged marriage arrangement. The third project, “Battle for Center Stage,” is set against the vibrant culture of HBCU dance competition. The new titles join Mansa’s existing vertical release “The Heiress, The Baller & The Secret Society.”

Every project in the new slate will be handled entirely within Mansa Studios, the company’s in-house production arm, from development through distribution. Mansa also plans to license and co-finance roughly 30% of future projects through strategic partnerships. The platform’s early numbers suggest the model is working — its first wave of vertical series pulled in more than 6.5 million impressions and views within 30 days of launch.

For Parker, the goal extends beyond content creation. “Vertical storytelling has already shown us what is possible when you meet audiences in the format they are naturally leaning into,” he said. “This slate is about scaling that insight into a repeatable system. We are building a pipeline where we can consistently develop, finance, produce, and distribute micro-drama series within our own ecosystem.”

Oyelowo echoed that vision. “This is about building an engine for storytelling,” he said. “We are creating a system that allows us to develop and release micro-dramas at scale while staying closely connected to our audience.”

The new series will stream on the Mansa app in the United States, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, and Brazil. In addition, Mansa continues its distribution partnership with AMC Theatres, established in 2023, which allows its original titles to be shown in U.S. cinemas.
