Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper Nicki Minaj publicly declared herself Donald Trump’s “number one fan” during an appearance in Washington DC on Wednesday, marking a significant shift from her previous criticism of his immigration policies.
Speaking at the US Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts Summit, Minaj took the stage alongside the president to announce her support for the programme, which provides trust funds for children. During the event, she revealed her Trump “gold card” visa, a recently launched fast-track citizenship programme for wealthy immigrants.

The rapper, who immigrated to the United States with her parents as a child, held hands with Trump on the podium and addressed critics directly. She stated that negative reactions only motivate her to support the president more strongly, emphasising that public opinion does not affect her stance.

Minaj shared images of her new card on social media platform X, noting that she received it free of charge and is currently finalising her citizenship paperwork. The gold card programme, introduced in December, allows wealthy immigrants to obtain US residency for a $1 million fee plus $15 000 in processing costs. The initiative has drawn criticism for emerging during a period of heightened immigration enforcement. (BBC)
