One City Rising Recommends NY Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar For Re-Election

Photos: Facebook QUEENS, NY (June 12, 2026) — One City Rising, a citywide community organization dedicated to bringing New Yorkers together around practical solutions to the city’s most pressing challenges, has recommended New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar for re-election to represent the 38th Assembly District. One City Rising is an independent grassroots organization that works to educate voters, strengthen communities, oppose divisive politics, and advance common-sense reforms. The organization advocates for safe and clean neighborhoods, quality education, housing development, vibrant small businesses, and greater transparency and accountability in government. The group recently lauded Assemblywoman Rajkumar’s Sunlight Bill, key anti-corruption legislation that would require greater disclosure of lobbyists’ government positions and help New Yorkers better understand who is seeking to influence public policy. “I am deeply honored to receive the recommendation of One City Rising,” said Assemblywoman Rajkumar. “We share a belief that government must move beyond division and deliver real, practical results for the people it serves. Our campaign is about uniting every community, opening the doors of opportunity for every family, and proving that love will always triumph over hate.” During her tenure in the State Assembly, Rajkumar has built a record of passing consequential legislation and delivering urgently needed resources for South Queens. She passed the landmark SMOKEOUT Act to shut down illegal smoke shops, helped establish Diwali as a New York City public school holiday, and passed her own legislation to accelerate the construction of housing and essential infrastructure. Rajkumar has also secured funding for public safety, libraries, youth programs, food assistance, veterans’ services, economic development, and community organizations throughout the district. Beyond Albany, she and her office have helped thousands of constituents preserve their housing, access benefits, navigate government agencies, resolve quality-of-life concerns, and obtain critical services. “My office gives every constituent our all,” Rajkumar said. “Whether there is an election or not, I am answering the phone, solving problems, bringing government services directly into our neighborhoods, and fighting every day for the people of South Queens. Public service is my passion, and I will never stop showing up.” Rajkumar is the first South Asian woman elected to state office in New York and the first woman to represent the 38th Assembly District. The daughter of immigrants, she has made expanding access to the American Dream a defining mission of her public service. The recommendation from One City Rising adds to the broad coalition supporting Rajkumar’s re-election, including working people, labor unions, community and faith leaders, public servants, and residents from across South Queens. Early voting begins Saturday, June 13, and continues through Sunday, June 21. Election Day is Tuesday, June 23.
