ARUSHA: THE Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF), in collaboration with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), has donated 160 beds and 160 mattresses worth 43m/- to support drug addicts receiving services in Sober Houses coordinated by the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) Northern Zone.
Speaking during the event on behalf of the Director General of PSSSF, Dr Fortunatus Magambo, the fund’s representative, Venance Mwaijibe, said the donation was handed over today in Arusha during a ceremony attended by various government leaders and stakeholders involved in the fight against drug abuse.
He said PSSSF decided to support government efforts by providing the beds and mattresses in order to improve accommodation services for addicts receiving treatment and counseling, noting that the fund believes in working together with the community to address various social challenges facing citizens.
“PSSSF has a slogan, ‘Today, Tomorrow.’ In collaboration with NSSF, we are building present and future lives. We have joined hands to give back part of the profits we earn by supporting the fight against drug abuse in order to build responsible citizens who contribute positively to the nation,” he said.
On his part, the representative of the NSSF Director General, Abubakar Mshangama, speaking on behalf of the Director General of the fund, Masha Mshomba, said the two social security funds had decided to work together in supporting government efforts to combat drug abuse.

Meanwhile, Sarah Ndaba, who represented the Director General of DCEA, Aretus Lyimo, thanked PSSSF and NSSF for the support, saying it would help strengthen services provided to recovering addicts through the sober houses.
