Saint Lucia welcomes Squash Open back after 13-year hiatus

Fair Helen played host to the 2026 Saint Lucia Squash Open 2026 Tournament from June 18–21, 2026, breaking a 13-year hiatus. Spearheaded by the Saint Lucia Squash & Racquets Association, the four days of competition featured 28 competitors, including five international players travelling from St Vincent & the Grenadines, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The tournament took place at the Saint Lucia Yacht Club (SLYC) on Reduit Beach in Gros Islet. Players competed in three divisions: Juniors, Women’s, and the main Open Championship. The event featured fast-paced and intense matches over three days.

Before the tournament, Christopher Thakur, president of the Squash and Racquets Association, told St Lucia Times that Saint Lucia has a “good crop of juniors, intermediate, and seniors”. He shared his hope that the sport will regain its status on the island.

Squash has become an official Olympic sport and will be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
