Mogadishu has confirmed the killing of the former Al-Shabaab Kingpin, Ahmed Eybka, who used to be known as the notorious Daqare.

The Al-Shabaab leader was reportedly attacked and killed in Basra village within the precinct of the Middle Shabelle region following a planned military operation.

It was stated that the Somali’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) forces, in what was described to be ‘a well-organized operation,’ and which was launched at the outskirts of Basra in Middle Shabelle region, succeeded in killing eight plotters, including the terrorist group leaders.

The recently attacked Al-Shaabab officials, are said to have belonged to the Khawarij’s mine and mortar attack units.

According to NISA, the target of the operation was the Khawarij gathering place which is located along the riverbank on the outskirts of Basra hamlet.

Now, within the area the leader of the mine plotting group had taken refuge.

Eybka was said to be the baron behind the terrorist attack groups using 107 millimeters mortars.

The Soviet 107mm M1938 mortar happens to be the scaled-down version of the 120mm M1938 mortar intended for use by mountain troops and light enough to be towed by animals on a cart.

Now the Somalia terrorist group leader, who was named Ahmed Eybka Aalim (Daqare), and six other members of the set-up, were deploying such deadly explosives to unleash terror in the Horn of Africa.

“This operation was a serious blow to the Khawarij network responsible for planning and executing mortar attacks. Intelligence also confirmed that the enemy took the bodies of the leaders who were killed from the operation site, secretly burying them in another area,” boasts the statement from NISA.

These operations are part of ongoing efforts to weaken the power of the Khawarij and dismantle its related networks that usually plan and unleash terrorist attacks.
