Tapion Hospital has unveiled its new “Founders and Icons Wall,” paying tribute to the individuals who helped shape the institution while showcasing a wave of advanced medical services now transforming healthcare delivery in Saint Lucia.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Medical Director Dr. Tracy Spencer reflected on her nearly decade-long journey at the hospital and praised the vision and dedication of those who laid the foundation for its growth.
“As I stand here reflecting on my journey since joining the hospital almost ten years ago, which, I assure you, feels like yesterday, I’m filled with a deep sense of gratitude,” Spencer said. “It’s heartening to recognize the solid foundation laid by those who came before us.”

Dr. Spencer described the wall as more than a symbolic tribute, saying it represents the collective efforts of every department within the institution.
“From our dedicated nurses and hardworking ground staff, to our diligent administration and maintenance teams, and of course our tireless doctors, we each play an essential role in the care we provide,” she stated. “Together, we are a force to be reckoned with.”
The ceremony also highlighted a series of major medical advancements introduced at the hospital over the past two years, including the launch of a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory capable of performing angiography and stent procedures locally.
“We now have angiography and stents available in our brand-new cath lab, bringing life-saving interventions right here to our community, no travel required,” Spencer revealed.
Additional upgrades include the introduction of laser lithotripsy, ERCP procedures, advanced stereotactic brain surgery techniques, and uterine artery embolization services aimed at enhancing women’s healthcare.
Among the hospital’s newest additions is a 128-slice CT scanner, described by Spencer as “the jewel in the crown” of the Martin Didier Radiology Department.
“These advancements aren’t just impressive bullet points,” she noted. “They represent our unwavering commitment to delivering world-class care to the people of St. Lucia.”
According to Spencer, Tapion Hospital now provides services across 17 medical specialties and is increasingly gaining recognition across the region, particularly in cardiovascular care.
She stressed that the hospital’s investments are not only focused on improving medical outcomes, but also on elevating the patient experience.
“How someone feels when they walk through our doors matters just as much as what happens when they get here,” she said.
The event concluded with a renewed call for staff and stakeholders to continue pushing the institution forward.
“Together, we will keep reaching new milestones and making a genuine difference in the lives of those we serve,” Spencer stated.
