Zimbabwe Football Association ( ZIFA) has suspended vice captain Teenage Hadebe for a match after a video of him flaunting a bottle of whiskey in the Warriors camp, found its way onto the internet.
Hadebe, a very senior member of the national side, can be seen in the video being circulated on social media platforms dancing while holding what looks like a Jameson Irish Whiskey bottle in his hand and a phone in the other.
He was in the company of five other national team players, all of whom he personally recorded, captain Marvelous Nakamba, Highlanders captain Andrew Mbeba, Orlando Pirates winger Daniel Msendami and starlet Mongameli Tshuma.
He will miss the Mukuru Four Nations Tournament final against Zambia on Tuesday, after featuring in the 3-0 win over Botswana last Saturday.
Hadebe has since apologised, according to a statement by the association.
“The Zimbabwean Football Association (ZIFA) confirms that the Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe has been found in breach of the team’s code of conduct,” reads the statement.
“Following this, a disciplinary decision has been taken in line with team regulations. Teenage Hadebe has been suspended for one match and will therefore miss the final of the Mukuru 4 Nations Tournament against Zambia.
“The player has since apologised to the team and the Association, and has accepted the disciplinary outcome.”
