It’s already mid May. In other words, it’s about time to start thinking about what you might want to pack for your upcoming summer trips. We, of course, hope that Essence Festival this July will be one of your stops for the upcoming season.
If so, at the top of your packing list should be a trusted, high power fan. After all, it’s New Orleans in July! It’s going to be extremely hot and humid. Need I say more?

Personally, I recently used this fan during a trip to New Orleans for my best friend’s wedding. It kept me cool all weekend long, and my friends kept asking me to borrow it because of how helpful it was. Similarly, during a work trip in Los Angeles I was doing an interview with someone (yes, I promise to share who it was soon!) who was pregnant and overheating. I brought out my fan and she was so thankful, and kept using it, as needed, throughout our chat.
Aside from using it to cool down, I also love using this fan while I’m doing my makeup or skincare routines. If my skin is too dewy or moist, I use the fan to dry down my skincare before applying my makeup. If you’re doing lash strips, it’s also a great way to get the glue to dry quickly. Lastly, if you’re doing an at home facial, you can use the mist setting to hydrate your skin during the process.
All that to say, having this fan on deck has made me feel empowered and prepared for any situation. And I know it will certainly be the case during the upcoming Essence Festival weekend. Whether I’ll be trying to stay cool in the New Orleans streets, keeping sweat at bay between panel discussions, or fanning myself off while dancing during the evening of concerts, I know I’ll be ready.
