Travel Destinations Every Black Woman Should Visit.

Travel is more than taking pictures in beautiful places. It can be an opportunity to learn history, experience culture and understand how communities have shaped the world. For Black women, destinations connected to African American history and the African diaspora can make travel particularly meaningful.

New Orleans is one destination that belongs on the list. The city’s Black cultural history is deeply connected to music, food, community and the African diaspora. The National Park Service notes that African cultural traditions played an important role in the development of New Orleans, including the

Congo Square, located within today’s Louis Armstrong Park, is another important site. African Americans gathered there for music, dancing, socializing and commerce, helping preserve cultural traditions. (National Park Service) Beyond New Orleans, Black women can explore destinations such as Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Charleston, Memphis and the Mississippi Delta to experience different chapters of Black American history.

Internationally, Accra, Ghana, and Dakar, Senegal, offer opportunities to explore West African culture and the broader African diaspora.
