Warriors striker Douglas Mapfumo has secured a move to South Africa’s National First Division side Kruger United after spending nearly half of last year unattached.
The 25-year-old forward completed the transfer on Wednesday.
Mapfumo had been without a club since parting ways with Betway Premiership side Polokwane City in June last year. Following his departure, the Zimbabwean international endured a six-month search for a new team before finally sealing his switch to Kruger United.
His arrival comes as part of a broader recruitment drive by the club, which also signed Lindokhule Mtshali, George Lloyd, Sifundo Sibanyoni, Kgopotso Mkhonza and Vicky Mkawana.
Kruger United are pushing for promotion to South Africa’s top-flight league. The club currently sits third on the National First Division table with 30 points, just three points behind log leaders Milford.
Mapfumo will be hoping to rediscover his scoring touch and play a key role in boosting Kruger United’s promotion ambitions as the season enters a decisive phase.
