Washington University in St. Louis awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree to Kwofe Coleman during the university’s commencement ceremony May 15.
Coleman is president and CEO of The Muny, the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor musical theater. He began his career there in 1998 as an usher before rising through administrative and leadership positions and becoming president and CEO in 2021.
Under Coleman’s leadership, The Muny received the 2025 Regional Theatre Tony Award recognizing artistic achievement and contributions to American theater.
