Young Photographer Captures Double Gold With Tiger’s Gaze

Gqeberha’s Cody Terblanche just earned a Double Gold for her striking photograph of a tiger!

Gqeberha, South Africa (14 May 2026) – A learner from Victoria Park High School in Gqeberha has taken home a Double Gold at the Knock on Wood Biannual Arts Festival for her photograph titled This Gaze.

“A massive round of applause for our very own Cody Terblanche! Cody has secured a prestigious Double Gold award at the Knock on Wood Biannual Arts Festival,” the school shared.

The image that earned Cody a shared top spot alongside Woodridge’s Ruby Mwami features Gina, a tiger at Simbonga Game Reserve near Jeffreys Bay.

“We are incredibly proud of Cody’s artistic vision and talent,” Victoria Park added.

The Knock on Wood Arts Festival is a biennial celebration of creativity hosted by Woodridge College and Preparatory School in the Eastern Cape. It brings together over 35 schools in an Eisteddfod-style competition that spans music, dance, drama, visual arts, and choral performance. This year’s festival runs from 11 to 14 May and wraps up this Friday.

Knock on Wood kicked off in the most fitting manner earlier this week, as the school’s junior marimba band opened festivities with a spirited performance.

Woodridge makes our headlines for a second time this month! Just days ago, Woodridge learners staged a surprise Star Wars takeover during assembly for May the Fourth. It was all the fun, and it went viral. Check it out here!
