International News: Vinícius ready to lead Brazil on World Cup stage

By Zoila Palma:  Brazilian athlete Vinícius Júnior says he is prepared to carry the expectations that come with being a star as he continues his impressive form at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Eight years after arriving at Real Madrid as an 18-year-old prospect, Vinícius has established himself among the world’s elite players, scoring 128 goals and providing 100 assists in 375 appearances while helping the Spanish giants win two UEFA Champions League titles.

The football star has scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 51 appearances for the national team, a respectable record but one that has often been compared unfavorably to his prolific output at Real Madrid.

Vinícius credits part of his resurgence to Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who managed him for four seasons at Real Madrid. Under Ancelotti, the winger scored 90 goals and added 67 assists in 198 matches.
