Jessop Primary School in Herne Hill was proud to have 25 pupils represent the school in the TCS Mini London Marathon 2026, joining thousands of children for a spectacular day in the capital.
Their young runners demonstrated outstanding determination and teamwork, raising over £1,200 for school resources and enrichment opportunities for all pupils.
This year’s event, held on Saturday 25th April 2026, saw a record-breaking 19,645 participants cross the iconic Finish Line on The Mall, just one day before the main London Marathon. The Mini Marathon featured thousands of schoolchildren completing either one mile or 2.6K.
Susan Banton, Assistant Head Teacher, Jessop Primary School, said:
“Saturday was a fantastic day and I am so proud of everyone who took part. Our young runners have been training hard, demonstrating determination, resilience and teamwork getting ready for the event.”
Jack, aged 10, a pupil at Jessop Primary School, said:
“It was so exciting to run with my friends, to see the sights, and to feel the crowds cheering us on. Crossing the Finish Line felt amazing, and I loved beating my dad and my teacher!”
Celebrities such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor took part. Joe Wicks, and Nitro from Gladiators helped to warm up all the runners.
Jessop Primary is raising funds through the Mini Marathon to enhance resources and opportunities for all pupils, including sports equipment, playground improvements and wider learning experiences.
Every donation will help us continue to provide the very best for our children and inspire them to aim high.
