Saint Lucia Athletics Association Juvenile Athlete of the Year for 2025, Hadassah Jules, is basking in the glow of a sparkling start to her 2026 campaign. On Thursday, February 5, she powered Mondesir House to an exciting comeback win over leaders and defending champions Denis at the Soufrière Primary School’s annual track meet.
Denis, comfortable winners in 2025, arrived at the Soufrière Stadium under the lights with a 28‑point cushion over Alcindor, 273 to 245. Mondesir, meanwhile, languished in a distant fourth after the field events and road race, with 186 points, trailing Hippolyte by 27 points.
But once the track opened, Mondesir surged. Brilliant runs from Jules, Keyana Edward, and Jayden Jn Baptiste pushed them to 633 points, overtaking Denis on 618, a charging Alcindor on 609, and Hippolyte, fourth for the second straight year, on 560.
Jules, daughter of former 100m national record holder Jineill Vite, stood tall as the Under‑13 victrix ludorum, sweeping the 150m, 300m, and 600m. She had captured the inter‑district 150m and 300m titles in the Under‑11 division last year. Defending schools Under‑11 300m champion Chance Isaac led Hippolyte’s charge, winning the boys’ 80m, 150m, and 300m.
The Under‑11 division produced a Mondesir sweep. Edward dominated the girls’ sprints with gold in the 80m, 150m and 300m, while Jn Baptiste matched her on the boys’ side as he eyes Under‑11 honours at next month’s inter‑district meet.
