Milwaukee Area Technical College invites the community to a vibrant journey through rhythm and history with the performance “The Continuum of African Cultural Traditions: Storytelling, Performance, and Jazz.”
Experience the powerful storytelling of Jam ak Jam Afro-Dance Company as they explore the cultural threads connecting West African traditions with Caribbean and African American heritage. This multidimensional event features oral and dance traditions from West Africa and the Diaspora, and the dynamic cultural, historical and performative connections between West African, Caribbean and African American cultural traditions and captivating performances of the Lindy Hop.
This immersive co-curricular program involves MATC student classes Social Sciences 224: Research posters exploring the expansiveness of Black culture, Audio 117: Live sound reinforcement provided by student technicians and Audio 103:Recording of the live concert provided by student technicians.
