Ousmane Dembele scored a hat-trick in France’s Group I 4-1 victory over Norway during the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the Boston Stadium on Friday evening.

Dembele was on target in the 7th, 20th and 32nd minutes, becoming the first player since 1974 to score a first half hat-trick at the World Cup.

At this very FIFA World Cup, Dembele is the second player to score a hattrick after Argentina’s Lionel Messi.

Desire Doue added the fourth goal, an icing on the already baked cake in the 4th minute of added time.

Thelo Aasgaard got the consolation for Norway who suffered their first defeat at the championship.

Dembele earned the man of the match trophy for this wonder hattrick.

France topped Group I with 100 percent record having won all the three group stage games with Norway finishing second on six points.

Meanwhile, African representatives Senegal recorded their first victory of the campaign as they humiliated a 10-man Iraq 5-0 at the Toronto Stadium.

Substitute Pape Gueye scored a brace with Habib Diarra, Ismailia Sarr and Illiman Ndiaye adding a goal apiece in Senegal’s massive victory.

It would have been a cricket-like score had talisman Sadio Mane not hit the woodwork in the second half.

Another substitute Nicholas Jackson was also denied by goalkeeper Ahmed Basil in the closing stages of the game.

Iraq played for almost 80 minutes with a man less after a red card for Rebin Sulaka in the 13th minute for a professional foul.

Gueye was deservedly named man of the match.

Senegal has now positioned self among the favorites to claim the 8 positions among the third placed teams vying for the round of 32.
