Member of the First Board of Directors — Dr. Eustace Huggins

Dr Eustace Huggins is one of the four inaugural directors who served on the first Board of the Bank of Nevis in 1985.

The other members were Joseph Parry, Hanzel Manners, and Richard Lupinacci.

Dr Huggins was one of those individuals and partners who worked tirelessly, often quietly and behind the scenes, to help ensure that the organisation not only got started but also survived and grew.

Dr Huggins drew on his overseas contacts, particularly in North America, to recruit early investors and shareholders.

He understood the importance of ensuring that the Bank had the resources necessary to establish itself and succeed.

At a time when the Bank was still young, and its future was far from guaranteed, attracting investment and building confidence in the institution were critical to its survival and growth. Dr Huggins stepped up to the challenge. His efforts helped provide the Bank with the support it needed to strengthen its foundation and move forward with greater confidence.

His contribution reminds us that building a successful institution requires more than those who work within its walls.

It requires people who are willing to believe in the vision, advocate for it, and use their resources and networks to help turn that vision into reality. Dr Huggins did just that.

His role as a Director was pivotal in helping to position the Bank of Nevis for success, and his contribution forms an important part of our history.
